7. Ход урока. 1. Организационный момент. Приветствие. - Good morning, dear friends! I’m glad to see you. Welcome to English lesson! How are you today? - Fine, thanks. - Sit down, please. I’m fine too. Now let’s begin our lesson. 2. Речевая разминка. Мотивация. Объявление темы урока. - I’d like to pay your attention on the screen and answer my question: What country would you like to travel today? (слайд № 1) Ответы учащихся. - But I’d like to visit Australia and we have a real opportunity to visit Australia today, because the theme of our lesson is “Welcome to Australia!”. I hope you’ll know many interesting facts about this country and its people. (слайд № 2) 3. Введение в тему урока. Тест. - What do you know about Australia? Answer this quiz. (слайд № 3) Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы. Учитель не исправляет ошибки, а предлагает проверить правильность ответов позже. 4. Групповая работа. Поисковое чтение. - Now open your books. Look at the pictures. What do they show? (The pictures show hunting Aborigines, a boomerang for hunting, Aboriginal art, British prisoners arriving in Australia, mistreatment of the Aborigines, modern-day Australia, flying medical serves). You can see 4 texts about the history of Australia and modern Australia. Please, divide in four groups, choose the text and read it. After that you will answer the questions (one question for each group) and tell us the information (слайд № 4). Учащиеся работают в группах. Каждая группа по очереди отвечает на поставленный вопрос и рассказывает остальным ученикам о содержании их текста. Для закрепления прочитанного учитель показывает слайды об истории и первых поселенцах Австралии (слайды № 5, 6). 5. Сообщение нового материала. - And now I’d like to tell you some more interesting facts about modern day Australia, its cities, sights, people, nature and language (слайд № 7). The Commonwealth of Australia is a federation of states. It has 6 states: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia and two territories: the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory (слайд № 8). On the Flag of Australia you can see the small Union Jack. It represents the historical link with Britain. On the Coat of Arm you can see emu and kangaroo – two national symbols of Australia (слайд № 9). Canberra is the capital of Australia. Earlier, there was nothing except sheep in Canberra. But then, in 1913 Australians decided to build a capital city. Now it is an international city, full of diplomats and government offices (слайд № 10). Sydney is the biggest city of the country and the capital of New South Wales. It is the best known place in Australia, because you can see many world famous sights there, such as Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge (слайд №11). Melbourne is the capital of the state of Victoria. Melbourne is famous for its parks, changeable weather, clanging trams, upside-down river (Yarra River), football and its cosmopolitan outlook. It is the least polluted city for its size and a relatively safe city with a very low crime rate (слайд № 12). Brisbane is the capital Queensland. Popular recreational areas include the Parklands, the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Brisbane Forest Park (слайд №13). Perth is the capital of Western Australia. Perth was founded as the political centre of the free settler Swan River Colony. It has continued to serve as the seat of Government for Western Australia to the present day. Perth the most isolated city in the world (слайд №14). Adelaide is the capital of South Australia. It was named in honour of Queen Adelaide. Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. Adelaide is sometimes referred to as the 'City of Churches' (слайд №15). Tasmania, the island south of Australia, is small. It is very different from the other states. There are no deserts in Tasmania. It often rains, both in winter and in summer. A large part of an island covered with beautiful wild forests, which are full of wonderful flowers and interesting animals (слайд №16). The Northern Territory is the largest territory in Australia by area. Darwin is its capital city. Tourism is one of Darwin's largest industries. There are about 20 national parks. The Northern Territory is a home to two spectacular natural rock formations, Uluru and Kata Tjuta, which have become major tourist attractions (слайд № 17). Australians love their wildlife. The Australian government pays a lot of attention to the preservation of the environment. Australia has nearly half a million species of plants, animals and birds, lots very unusual animals. Mammals, birds, reptiles and 94% of the frogs are found nowhere else in the world (слайд № 18). Protected areas of Australia include Commonwealth and off-shore protected areas managed by the Australian government. There are many Botanical Gardens, Historic Shipwrecks, Marine Parks and National Parks in Australia (слайд № 19). Great Barrier Reef on the coast of Queensland is a garden under the sea. There are 1,400 different kinds of fish. Tropical fruit and flowers grow on the beautiful islands. So Queensland id the best place to spend your holydays (слайд № 20). Australian are friendly people. They love sports, their family barbecues and the beach. (слайд № 21). Australian Strine consists of words and phrases which have different meanings from English (like American English) (слайд № 22). Please, look through the table. Compare British and Australian words. How do you say them in Russian? Pictures will help you. 6. Проблемные задания. Закрепление изложенного материала. - Now I’d like to check your knowledge about Australia. Let’s do some tasks. First of all you must check yourself with the quiz “What do you know about Australia?”(слайд № 23). - The next task is “Numbers and days”. What do these numbers and dates refer to? (слайд № 24) - Try to match the names of Australian states with the names of their capitals. (слайд №2 5) 7. Обучение устной речи. - And the last task for you. Try to tell about Australia using the chart (слайд № 26). Учащимся предлагается рассказать об Австралии, используя схему и полученную на уроке информацию. 8. Задание на дом. Подведение итогов урока. - Your home task will be exercise 4b, page 93 in your Student’s Book (слайд № 27). You must do some research and find out. What contacts does Russia have with Australia? What things does it buy from Australia? What things does it sell to Australia? How ling does it take to get to Australia from Russia. How is Australia different from Russia? - I thank everybody for the lesson. You were very active. I hope this lesson was interesting for you and you have known much new and useful information.
