Olga Istomina Chersonesus Tauricus. Problems of the Time and Conditions of its Foundation This paper presents the analysis of a relevant group of sources and a survey of the main hypotheses of the time and circumstances for the foundation of Chersonesus. For a long time the traditional date of foundation of the polis was considered to be 422-421 B.C. However, appearance and analysis of new archeological sources and epigraphic evidence from the excavations of Chersonesus make the researches to review the time of its establishment. Ksenia Kashnikova Castle as a Symbol in Russian and Foreign Literature This article shows the usage of ‘castle’ as a symbol in the works of modern Russian and foreign fantasy writers. The disputed islands, which were occupied by Soviet forces at the end of World War II, are under Russian administration as South Kuril District of the Sakhalin Oblast, but are claimed by Japan, which refers to them as the Northern Territories or Southern Chishima, being part of the Nemuro Subprefecture of Hokkaidō Prefecture. Religion reveals the thick veil of this mystery and allows for having a look beyond the limits, showing that life becomes meaningless without its recognition together with death. The Ancients considered death as transition to the outer world. Religions interpret this world in different ways, there is no precise knowledge about it, but there are evidences about this world. Some spiritual traditions are more acknowledged with the phenomenon of death. Eastern orthodox Christianity conceives death as a transition from mortal life to eternity. The life of the soul does not end after death of physical body. After three days on the earth, the soul rises to other spheres to worship God, passing 20 stages when evil spirits try to oppose. Divine judgment will prescribe the place where the soul will exist: in the heaven or in the hell. These entire phenomena are experienced with pneumatic eyes and cannot be imagined by mind. Church fathers recommend to study this phenomenon carefully and not to pass dogmatic restriction of learning this subject. Chaucer (Based on «The Legend of the Good Women») The article is devoted to the problem of studying a perception of gender behavior in the noble society by Geoffrey Chaucer, who was the prominent English poet of the XIV century. The author studies sexes’ interrelations in the aristocratic society through Chaucer’s coloured descriptions and estimations of the main characters in the poem, who were the famous heroes (both women and men) of the ancient mythology, also including their marriage behavior. The research is based on the weakly-studied in the Russian historiography source, which «The Legend of the good women» is. Thomas Mun was one of the first theorists of mercantilism in England. Many of his sights were affected by economic way of Holland of that time. In the lampoons he wrote about advantage of the Dutch of which accused Englishmen. Struggle between these two countries as we see, has poured out not only in military collisions. The struggle in the economy and a policy was on the first place. Ksenia Urpina The Tokaido Road: Time Travel My report deals with the historical road in Japan, which has historical and cultural value for the Japanese nation. The road itself originated in the 7th century. The starting point was the imperial capital of Kyoto and the final point was the center of the shogunate Edo, formed in 1457. The entire length of the road was 514 kilometers; 53 stations were built along the road. This phenomenon is the subject of many studies, but so far it is poorly understood. Therefore, its study and reconstruction can be the basis for creating a full-fledged tour, which would retain the features of that Japan, we don’t learn anywhere else. |
