Т: Hell, children! Nice to meet you! How are you? P1 Fine. Thank you. And you? T: I’m O.K., too many guests. Let’s greet them. Today we have we’ll work hard, I think while working, don’t forget the note «Be tolerant» I mean be kind to each other, polite, be active, respect the arguments. By word, use the note: «Bearn to communicate»
T: We’ll talk about sport and it’s meaning. Well learn more about the history of Olympic Games and we’ll know the famous sportsmen of our region. You’ll tell our guests about the best sportsmen of our school who will take part in the 2022 Olympic Games, we think. And then we’ll sum up the results of our lesson.

P1 I think sport plays an important role in my life it builds character, helps to overcome problems… P2 As for me, I joined a volley-ball club. I tool part ma volley-ball competitions. Of ten we won the prizes. But I had a lot of injuries. It is not pleasant for me… P1=P2 P3 My father likes football very much. I watch TV programmers too. I think sport teaches to win and to lose, to find a way out… P4 I can’t agree with you. First, sport takes a lot of time, second, it takes a lot of energy. Third we have got only rivals. It makes you unhappy. I know about it from my own experience… P1=P2 T: To sum up your points of view we can tell what are pros and cons. T: So, to have a healthy mind you must have a healthy body. T: This is our motto. It was a motto of ancient Greeks, wasn’t it. We’ll learnt about it if we listen to the text «The history of Olympic Games» Before listening let’s recall in our memory some words. P2 The Olympic Games were proposed by the French archaeologist Pierre de Coubertin. P3 The Olympic Games were held more than two thou sand seven hundred gears ago… T: And now we try to support the Olympic movement. We remember the Olympic motto «Citius, Altius, Fortius» The Spirit of competition lives in our region our Belgorod Sports men are the European, world and Olympic records holders. P1 Now there are 4754 sport structures in the Belgorod region P2 There are 7 sport palaces and 45 stadiums in our region. P3 There are 106 swimming-pools and 412 shooting galleries in the Belgorod region P4 There are 11 phisical-recreative complexes here. T: SO, we can tell that our Belgorod region is the best place for sport in our country. (слайд 4) T: The spirit of competition lives in our school too. Our pupils are future Olympic winners children, tell please our guests about our best sports men. P1 I’d like to tell you about our rocket modeling team. The members of this team are Maiboroda A, Davydov I, Lyuty A, Yagupova V. This is an intellectual sport… Maiboroda a is a sport master of Russia. She took part in All-Russia competitions, in the European and World champion chips Davydov I is a champion of Russia… P2 I like to play chess, so it is pleasant for me to tell you about our school chess team. The members of this team are Shlyakhov V, Shlyakhov O, Lavryenov R, Borganov D, Leibina K. These pupils are industrious, persist ant. They took the second place in the regional competition. We are proud of them… P3 Football is a favorite sport in our school. The best football players are Bogatyryev E and Shmidov V. They are workings hard and train a lot. They are members of a regional football team… T: We think these our sportsmen will be future Olympic winners. It will be in2022 Olympic Games. Why not? (слайд 5) An initiative group from the 8-th Form wants the Olympic Games in 2022 will be held in Russia, in Moscow. They want to prove it. And the International Olympic Committee will give a positive answer, we hope. P1 Our initiative group thinks that Moscow is the best place for the 2022 Olympic Games. There are many modern Stadiums, an Olympic village in Moscow…, a lot of sights… But we offer the Golden Ring. P2 P1 The Golden Ring is a group of ancient Russian towns and cities that form a curved line that begins and ends in Moscow. A tour of the Golden Ring gives visitors the opportunity to learn about Russia’s past, culture and traditions. These are the towns and cities of the Golden Ring. P2 Vladimir – Vladimir was founded by Prince Vladimir Monomach in 1108 and became the capital of Noth – Eastern Russia in the 12 th century. It is famous for it’s beau full architecture and its peace full atmosphere… Suzdal – Suzdal was established in 1024 and is one of the best – preserved towns in Russia. Visitors will see building styles from different epochs and will enjoy exploring the city on foot. P3 Kostroma – founded in 1152 and located on the Volga River. Kostroma was the birth place of the Romanov Dynasty. It is well known for its fire-watch tower and the church of the Resurrection. Yaroslavl. This town was founded at the beginning of the 11 th century (1010). The city has wonderful architecture and a heroic past. One of the main tourist attractions of this town is the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour. P4 Rostov the Great – founded in 862. This ancient Russian town is located on lake Nero. The Rostov Kremlin, the Cathedral of assumption and the Bell Tower will impress visitors. Pereslavl – Zalessky was established in 1152. In 1693 Peter the Great constructed a prototype of the first Russian fleet here. Now the lake has National Park status. P5 Sergiev Posad – was founded in 862 and named after Saint Sergius who founded the largest Russian monastery. The Holy Trinity – St.Sergius Lavra. The monastery contains a huge library of religious books as well as icons and other treasures. T: I see you have worked hard and now we think that the Golden Ring is worth seeing. And what about traditions? (слайд 6) P1 The Olympic idea means friendship, fraternity and cooperation among the people of the world. The Olympic Movement proves that real peace can be achieved through sport. The Olympic emblem is five inter linked rings: blue, yellow, black, green and red… P2 Winners were called «Olympionics» they were awarded olive wreaths and cups of olive oil. This tradition has survived. I think to give cups and wreaths to winners will be a tradition for ever… P3 Our group looked through a lot of awards of previous Olympic Games and decided these medals will be the best. P4 I wand to edd about the mascot. This is a bee. P5 Why? P4 All Russian sportsmen are like a bee. They work a lot and hard. This is an emblem of all Russian people… T: I suppose that this Olympic Games will be success full for our sportsmen.
T: I think you will continue the work at your project and you’ll look through 2 more important questions: the clothes for our sportsmen and new kinds of sport in the 2022 Olympic Games.

T: Thank you very much for all of you. Your answers were great. Now I see you like sport and you are proud of our sportsmen and our country. You were really very active, polite, kind and friendly. Your marks are… But now I want you to show your attitude to the lesson. (слайд 8, интерактивная доска) Before leaving this class put your flags on the way to the Olympic fame you’ve worked…sad, well, exellent. Приложение 1 Sporting Success Strategy for the development of sport has been drawn up by the administration of the Belgorod Region. They aim to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take part in sport and active recreation of their choice and to reach the highest standards of sporting excellence. Now there are 4754 sport structures in the Belgorod Region. Among them are 7 sport palaces, 45 stadiums. 106 swimming-pools, 412 shooting galleries, 11 physical-recreative complexes. In the latest Olympic Games Belgorod athletes won 2 gold, 6 silver, bronze medals. 66 athletes in 7 sports are the members of national teams. 17 Belgorod Sportsmen are the European, word and Olympic records holders in different disciplines. Successful Belgorod sports personalities include: Svetlana Khorkina, a talented gymnast, is the pride of our town. She’s twice Olympic Champion. In 1997 Khorkina won the title of the All-Round women’s champion of the world championships in Switzeland. So she brilliantly passed the exam for the best woman gymnast in the world. The men’s volleyball team Locomotive-Belogorie has won the world title on many occasions. That’s why Belgorod is called the capital of world volleyball. Sergei Tetyhin, Vadim Khamuttskih are leader volleyball players. They are silver and bronze Olympic prize-winners. Konstantin Prihodchenko, Yuri Ermolenko achieved a great success in shooting. They took part in the summer Olympic Games. Alexander Korukovets is a silver prize-winner in the 28 summer Olympic Games in the women’s volleyball. Svetlana Sokolova, Elena Chernyavskaya are our famous athletes, Russia and Europe champions. Fyodor Emeliyanenko is ranked number I in the world in wrestling. |
