Legitimizing of the Russian Far East Policy in the Views of Prince E. Ukhtomsky

One of the trends in the Russian Far East policy at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries was ‘vostochnichestvo’ or asianism by Prince E. Ukhtomsky. He argued with advocators of conquering policy and insisted on peaceful Russian expansion to Asia. Treating with respect to foreign culture and tolerance, ideas of Russian and Asian cultural and historical similarity and his reasoning about ‘The White Tsar’ were the basis of ‘romantic imperialism’of E. Ukhtomsky.

The Assessment of Dentine Coloration from Autofluorescence Spectra

In this work we employed a quantitative account of autofluorescence reabsorption effect in complex biological object for the assessment of alterations in human dentin coloration under various treatment. Dentine autoflourescence, originated from the glowing of dentine collagen under ultraviolet excitation, is reabsorbed within the tissue by a yellowish-brown chromophore that at the same time determines the color of tooth. On the base of “effective optical density” concept the content of the chromophore can be assessed from autofluorescence spectra. In our experiments, the amount of the chromophore (the intensity of coloration) was altered by i.) glycation of tooth tissue and ii.) dental tissue photowhitening, using 405 nm light. Our estimates for the color change of dentin, obtained from calculated effective optical density, correlate with glycation time in the first experiment and the changes in teeth whiteness measured colorimetrically in the second experiment.

Photodynamic Lipolysis with Indocyanine Green

The goal of our work is to develop a photodynamic method using solution of dye, Indocyanine Green (ICG) in mixture 40% ethanol + 60% water. For estimation of fat tissue optical parameters spectrophometric measurements in spectral range 40 -1000 nm have been taken. Experimental research of ICG interaction with fat tissue and evaluation of the laser light emission dose, which leads to tissue cell damage has been carried out. Parameters of laser interaction: the time of irradiation – 1 min, power – 1.5 W.

We hypothesize that light irradiation leads to fat cells damage by means of apoptosis mechanism.

The research can be useful for developing novel optical technologies for treatment of obesity cellulite, as, evidently, the optical technologies promise less danger to the patient than widely used surgical and pharmaceutical treatments.
