План урока в 7 классе по теме: “What Do You Know about English-Speaking Countries?” Цели урока:
1. Обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по теме «Страны изучаемого языка».
2. Совершенствовать навыки и умения владения английским языком по всем видам речевой деятельности: аудированию, говорению, чтению, письму.
3. Повысить мотивацию к изучению иностранного языка. Оснащение урока: карты англоговорящих стран, флаги стран, карточки с названиями стран и их столиц, английский алфавит (разрезная азбука) План урока
Сообщение темы и целей урока. Знакомство с заданиями урока-конкурса и подведением его итогов. Представление команд-участниц.
Разминка. Обеим командам даётся задание вспомнить названия англоговорящих стран.
Конкурс «Флаги и столицы».
Соревнование капитанов.
Прослушивание магнитофонной записи с короткими рассказами о странах изучаемого языка.
Сообщения учащихся об известных политических деятелях Британии и США.
Игра “The ABC game”.
Выполнение теста “Do You Know English Speaking Countries?”.
Конкурс «British or American».
Музыкальное соревнование.
Подведение итогов урока. Объявление команды – победительницы.
Ход урока
Teacher: Good morning, everybody! I am very happy to see you at our competition. It is devoted to the English-speaking countries. I am sure you’ve got a lot of useful information about the countries. There are two teams at the lesson. They will show us their knowledge of the matter. You’ll get a star for a right answer. Now it’s time to introduce yourselves. I want the captains to come over and choose the emblems and the names of the teams.
Teacher: Will you mention English-speaking countries in turn? I’ll give you 1 minute for this kind of work. Every country you name earns you one point. You are welcome!
Teacher: The next competition is called “Flags and capitals”. Look at the blackboard, please! You can see many different flags. The 1st team must put cards with the names of the countries and the 2nd team must put the names of capitals. The winners will be those who finish their work first. Here are two envelopes with cards. Captains! Will you take your envelope, please!
Teacher: Dear boys and girls! Now we’ll see whose captain is the best. Come up to me and fill in the form. Open you envelopes and let’s begin the game. In the envelope: Canada. The answer: a Canadian, the Canadians.
Teacher: Guess the names of these countries. Listen to the record and be very attentive! The winner will be the team that gives the right answer and does it quicker that the other team.
1) It’s one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the East and by the Pacific Ocean in the West. What is it? (The USA).
2) It is the second largest country in the world. There are two official languages in this country English and French. (Canada)
3) This country is an island state. It’s not very big, but it’s very beautiful. There are a lot of places of interest. (Great Britain).
4) It’s a small and quiet country in the Pacific Ocean. The official languages are English and Maori. This country is sometimes called “The World’s Biggest Farm” (New Zealand).
5) This country occupies a whole continent. It has strange animals and plants. It’s very far from our country. Sometimes this country is called “The Lucky country” (Australia).
Teacher: You read about famous British and American people at our lessons. Your task was to prepare a story about one of these people. (2-3 человека из каждой команды рассказывают коротко о каком-либо известном британском или американском писателе, учёном, политическом деятеле).
Teacher: Children, now you’ll get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put these letters in the right order, so as to get the name of the country. The winner will be the team that finishes this kind of work earlier.
Teacher: Now we’ll have a short test .You’ll get the cards with the tasks. Choose the right answer.

2) The capital of the USA
is New York/Washington/Ottawa.
3) The colours of Canadian flag are
green and blue/ red and white/blue and yellow.
4) The New Zealanders speak
American English/Kangaroo English/Kiwi English.

the smallest continent/the smallest island/the largest country.
Teacher: Let’s take part in the game. Now I’ll say the British variant of the world and you’ll give an American version of this word. The winner will be the team that names as many words as possible.

Teacher: Dear friends! Do you like music? I see. Could you name any British or American singers, pop groups and composers? Well done! Your task is to show how you can sing something from the Beatles repertoire.
Подведение итогов урока-конкурса. Учитель просит посчитать количество звёздочек и обсудить, кто был лучшим знатоком англоговорящих стран. Объявляется команда-победительница и самые лучшие знатоки. Знатокам вручаются небольшие сувениры, а команде-победительнице – диплом или какая-либо другая награда, приготовленная учителем. Учитель благодарит всех участников за хорошие и отличные знания по данной теме и активное участие в конкурсе. Выставляются оценки.
