Образец текста на аудирование Speaker 1 In Spain I lived in a flat with students from the local university. In my drama class I met a Spanish girl who was looking for someone to speak English with. We became best friends and we spoke half the time in English, and half the time in Spanish. I also joined a gym and had great fun trying to do an aerobics class which was not a difficult task though the instructions were given in Spanish. On Sundays I went to the cinema and only watched Spanish films. Now I’m quite good at Spanish. Speaker 2 I went to China to work as an English language teacher because I wanted to understand people who live in China. It took me a long time before I met local Chinese people with the same interests as I had. I met even more interesting people thanks to them. I had great fun and left China with a better understanding of the lifestyle of ordinary Chinese people. Speaker 3 The first foreign language which I studied was French. I learnt it at a secondary school. Between school and university I spent three months working on two farms in southern France. This helped me to speak easily in French and to get a rich vocabulary connected with farming. I can still speak and read in French quite well. However, my written French is rather bad. Speaker 4 I have always been good at languages that’s why I studied French and German at high school. To brush up my French and German I took part in a few student exchange programmes. But then I thought that my chances of finding a good job might be improved if I chose a more unusual language. I considered Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. Finally I decided on Chinese and Japanese, which I studied at the University of Leeds. During my second year I spent a term studying Chinese in China, and another term studying Japanese in Osaka. Speaker 5 I began learning Arabic because I planned to visit different Arabic-speaking countries, including Morocco. Using a textbook I learnt Arabic pronunciation, the Arabic script, a few words and a bit of grammar. Soon I spent some weeks in Morocco. Unfortunately I found out that my French was much more useful than the little Arabic I knew. Speaker 6 Many years ago I was given an Irish whistle as a birthday present. I liked it so much that soon I started to collect Irish tunes, songs and albums, it became my favourite occupation. I enjoyed listening to Irish music so much that I started playing it myself. As I listened to and played Irish music I got interested in the Irish language as well. And you see, my hobby led me to the decision to start learning the Irish language.

Образец текста на письменный перевод Basic stages of crop production Crop farming involves at least five separate operations: preparing the soil, planting, cultivating, harvesting, and processing and storage. Modern farm equipment can perform each of these operations easily and quickly. Preparing the soil. The main purpose of soil preparation is to make a seedbed- that is, an area of soil in which seeds can be planted and in which they will sprout, take root, and grow. Most farmers make the seedbed by a process called tillage. Tillage involves digging into the soil and mixing it. Tillage loosens the soil, kills weeds, and improves the circulation of the water and air in the soil. The Chief tillage devices are ploughs. At ploughing time, most farm fields are scattered with dead stalk, leaves, and other plant wasters from the preceding crop. Other field may have a cover crop, such as alfalfa or grass. Plant wasted and cover crops help protect soil from erosion. They also enrich the soil with nutrients if they are ploughed under. Soil that has been completely turned over in ploughing often remains stuck together in chunks. Most farmers, therefore, also use a device called a harrow. A harrow has sharp teeth or disks that break the chunks of soil into smaller pieces. Many farmers attach a harrow to the back of a plough. Farmers may add fertilizer to the soil during and harrowing. Planting. Nearly all the field crops grown on the farms are planted by machines called planters or drills. These machines cut furrows( narrow grooves) in the soil, drop seeds into each furrow, and cover the seeds with soil- all in one operation. Some fertilizers and pesticides are applied to the soil during planting. Equipment to distribute the chemicals may be attached to the seed drill. Cultivating. Herbicides applied before or during planting kill many kinds of weeds, but not all. Some weeds may develop with the crops. Farmers control such weeds with cultivators. These device stir the soil between rows and so uproot and bury any weeds. Harvesting. Farmers harvest their field crops with machines. They use combines to harvest most grain and seed crops, including barley, corn, rice, soybeans, and wheat. A combine performs several tasks. First, it cuts the plant stalks. Then, it threshes the cuttings-that is, separates the grain or seeds from the straw and other residues. The combine returns the residues to the ground and collects the grain or seeds in a tank or bin. Some farmers harvest corn with special machines. The machines pick the ears from the stalks but do not remove the grain from the ears. Special machines are also used to harvest other field crops, including peanuts, potatoes, and sugar beets. Some machines mow such crops as alfalfa and clover. The mowed crops are left on the ground, where they dry and become hay. Machines called hay balers gather the hay and bind it into bales. Processing and storage. Crops raised to supply food human beings are called food crops. Many food crops tend to spoil quickly, and so farmers ship these crops to market as soon as possible after harvesting. Food grains, however, can be stored for months on farms that have the proper facilities. Before grain is stored, it must be dried. Most farms that store large amounts of grain have grain-drying equipment and large storage bins. Crops raised to supply feed for livestock are called feed crops. Hay, silage, soybeans, and such grains as corn and sorghum are the principal feed crops. Corn, wheat, and soybeans are used for both food and livestock feed. Hay must be kept dry until it is used, and so it is usually stored in barns. Unlike hay, silage must be kept moist. Most farmers store it in airtight structures called silos. Образец текста для аннотации Given the possible adverse impacts of climate change on agricultural production, it becomes increasingly important for agricultural science to develop robust assessment approaches and modelling tools that can support policy decisions concerning food security and adaptation of agricultural systems to climate change at different scales. Mechanistic crop growth simulation models are frequently used tools for regionally assessing the effects of climate variability and change on crop yields. These models require spatially and temporally detailed, location-specific, environmental (weather and soil) and management data as inputs, which are often difficult to obtain consistently for larger regions. When aggregating the input data for crop model applications, this usually increases the uncertainty of model simulations, but it is not well understood to what extent. The present study aims to systematically analyse the effect of changes in the spatial resolution of weather input data on yields simulated by four crop models (LINTUL-SLIM, DSSAT-CSM, EPIC and WOFOST). These different models were utilized to test possible interactions between weather input data resolution and specific modelling approaches representing different degrees of complexity. The models were applied to simulate grain yield of spring barley in Finland for 12 years between 1994 and 2005 considering five spatial resolutions of daily weather: weather station (point) data and grid-based interpolated data at resolutions of 10 km × 10 km; 20 km × 20 km; 50 km × 50 km and 100 km × 100 km. Our results show that the differences between models were larger than the effect of the chosen resolution of weather input data for the considered years and region. When displaying model results graphically, each model exhibits a characteristic ‘fingerprint’ of simulated yield frequency distributions. These characteristic distributions in response to the inter-annual weather variability were independent of the spatial resolution of weather input. Further evaluation will be required to understand the robustness of a model’s fingerprint across a larger range of conditions and the relationships to the underlying processes in order to better explain difference in fingerprints among models. Using one model (LINTUL-SLIM), we further analyzed how the aggregation strategy, i.e. aggregating model input versus model output data, influences the simulated yield frequency distribution. Results show that aggregating weather data has a smaller effect on the yield distribution than aggregating simulated yields which causes some deformation of the model fingerprint. We conclude for the specific Finnish conditions, that changes in the spatial resolution of weather input data introduce less uncertainty to the simulations than the use of different crop models. However, more evaluation is required for other climatic regions exhibiting higher spatial heterogeneity in weather conditions, to substantiate our findings. The effect of aggregating model input also needs to be examined for other data related to soil and crop management. Our results are in line with other studies that suggest that use of not only one crop model but multiple models would be a useful procedure for investigating climate impacts on regional crop yields. This is because multi-model simulations offer the possibility to accurately quantifying and report uncertainty, which we consider a prerequisite to better supporting decision-makers. This paper addresses a fundamental question for modelling of crop growth and development – that of the spatial resolution and scale of data used in models. The important result is that differences between simulation models was larger than differences between spatial scaling methods. In the light of current attention on the uncertainty of using climate and impact models for climate change impact studies, this paper makes a central point that will be picked up in the general scientific literature and reports.
