Good morning! I am very glad to see you today. Sit down, please! Who is on duty today! What is the date today? Who is absent today? Why? Thank you. Today we have an unusual and very interesting lesson. I hope it will be important and useful for you. Are you ready for the lesson? OK? How are you? (T→P1, P2, P3). Look at the blackboard. The topic of our lesson is “Where Does Your Granny Live?” Try to guess what we are going to talk about? (P1, P2, P3). Right. Very well. Now look at the epigraph of our lesson “Father and Mother are sacred words.” Translate it and explain. Thank you. 2. Good points. Bad points. The elderly people. Problems. Who must and can help? ------------- --------------- ------------------ Look at our chart. At first let’s talk about good and bad points in the life of the elderly people. Let’s divide into 2 groups. You have two minutes to write down good/bad points. Then go to the blackboard, stick your sheet of paper and name good/bad points. Gr1→P1 Gr→P2 Let’s discuss them. Gr1→Gr2 3. Open your books at page 160. Ex. 1. Read the task. ( P1) Listen to the text and be ready to ask and answer each other questions, to do the test. Test. 2) Does the information below correspond to what Tanya has learnt about Jane’s Granny? (True/False) Jane’s Granny was put into a home for elderly people because of her husband’s death. Jane’s parents don’t take care of Granny. Granny Molly became to look after herself in a proper way. Granny has chosen for herself to live in a home for elderly people. Homes for elderly people in Great Britain are terrible. Granny lives in the home, which is very pleasant. At the home she can call a trained nurse, if she has any problems. Jane’s parents were not able to bring Granny into their home, because she needed to be looked after properly. So you see elderly people in Great Britain have some serious problems. And what about our country? Do our lonely elderly people have the sаme problems? Let’s listen to the interview by Vera Ivanovna Karpenko. Please take notes! - What are her problems? You see the problems are the same and they are serious. Who can help elderly people to solve their problems? (P1P2P3) Right. They are at the national level - the Governement, at the local level – the Social Services, families, relatives, charities, individuals.
Let’s listen to Anya again and check up. Oh, no, it’s impossible. We have no sound. Who can help us. Let’s make a sound track for our film. Who will do it better? P1 – P2 –P3 Thank you! Fine! Vika was the best. And what about you? Do you help lonely elderly people? Do you help your own grandparents? Make up a small story about it. And Seryozha will ask you some questions. Answer them, please. In my class. Families: Grandparents live with their children: Grandparents live apart from their children: Children help their parents: Children cannot help their parents: Grandparents live in a home for elderly people: I think it’s very good that you love and help your grandparents. 6. Let’s imagine that 20 years have passed. You are grown-ups. You became deputies of the Federal Government or may be ministers. Your task is to work out a program “Help your grandparents!” 7. Well, thank you. Your homework is to find English and Russian proverbs about elderly people. Your have excellent and good marks today. Thank you. Our lesson is over. Good-bye!
Первая группа: good points.

I think it’s very good that you love and help your grandparents. 6. So imagine 20 years passed. You are grown-ups. You became deputies of the Federal Government or may be ministers. 3) Which of the girls has the following opinions? Tanya or Jane
Neutral expressions But don’t you think …? Yes, but do you really think …? Yes, but surely you don’t think/believe that … Yes, but is/isn’t it possible that …? Surely not, I mean that … Yes, but on the other hand … Informal expressions Hold on, … No, but look, … Well, think of it this way … But look at it like this … You don’t really think … Yes, but on the other hand …
I agree with Tanya that a Granny should live with the family of her adult children. On the one hand, she can’t look after herself properly, but on the other hand she can help a lot as well. I agree with Tanya that children can make around a Granny the atmosphere of love and kindness, which is important for elderly people. I agree with Jane that it is rather difficult to look after a Granny if all family members leave home in the morning and come home in the evening. I agree with Jane when she says that there are pleasant homes for elderly people. I agree with Jane that trained nurses in a home for elderly is a great advantage. I agree with Tanya that families with grannies living in the home for the elderly lose warmth and become less close.
