Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. Today we will talk about the capital of United Kingdom and the places of interest there.
We will start our lessons with the English sounds. Look at the board, listen and repeat [ju:] – beautiful, museum, new; [æ] – gallery, travel, capital; [Λ] – London, Londoner, lovely, country; [eə] – square, where, there; [ɒ] – monument, opera, popular, coronation; [əu] – old, most, well-known, postcard. Look at the words once again and name adjectives, the places of interest
I want you to ask you some simple questions. You must be quick and attentive
Now you are going to listen to the dialogue. The boy and the girl are having talk about London. Listen to the dialogue and find out what the girl brought from the UK for the boy and his friends.
a)Open your textbook at page 60. Look through the dialogue and answer the questions 1) What country is Liza from? 2) How long will she stay in Russia? 3) Does she like Moscow? 4) Is Moscow different from London? 5) Has Oleg been to London? 6) Does Liza like London?How can you prove that? 7) What places can a person visit in London? b) Look at the board, read the sentences and find the words from the dialogue 1) It’s a place where people can see works of art. 2) The main city in a country. 3) Something like a house having walls and a roof. 4) Saturday and Sunday. 5) You can go far a walk there. 6)You can write it and send it to your friends.
It’s time to talk about our visit to London and what we can see there. What places of interest are there in London? Let’s listen to the words on the topic «London». Can you guess their meanings? (park, museum, clock, monument, square, bridge, theatre, palace) Look at the pictures and try to guess what it is. Match pictures with the words.
I am sure all pupils of our group would like to visit London. I think you have a lot of questions to Liza who is from Great Britain. Work in pairs for 5 minutes and prepare three questions about the capital of Great Britan. Then we will read them and try to answer. The pictures and words (famous, wide, street, parks, river, old city, big, stand on, art galleries, queen) will help you.
