1. Приветствие. Организационный момент.
T: Good morning, dear cadets!
P: Good morning, our teacher! We are glad to see you!
T: I am glad to see you too. Sit down. Today we are going to speak about “TV and TV programmes”. We will watch videos, you will me advantages and disadvantages of TV, read some verbs, the text and talk about your favourite channels and programmes, films, news.

P: What kind of programmes do you know?
P: There are a lot of programmes on TV: news and sports programmes, talk shows and TV games, documentaries and feature films, concerts and theatre performances.
P: Why do some people think that television is a terrible waste of time?
P: Because it makes us lazier. We stay at home instead of going out. We read less. We think less. We even talk less. It’s true that some TV addicts spend hours in front of the “box” watching whatever’s on – from second-rate Mexican soap operas to silly commercials.

Television nowadays, its role and responsibility are being widely discussed as it has really become one of the most important mass media. I am sure that television is doing a lot of good because it is invaluable for the information it provides; it has vast educational opportunities; it makes people argue and discuss, think more; it is one of the mighty means of forming people’s character, ideology and outlook. Thus it is clear that television is one of the most valuable achievements.
But it occupies all our spare time. We rush home to be in time for this or that program. The violence on TV creates violence in real life, television is bad for people’s health, it is like a drug, it “kills” conversation. But is it solely the television which is at fault? Of course, television is a hard test of our wisdom: either we can use it or it can use us. And I think that you use and will use television for your best benefit and enrichment.
