On Saturday it began to rain so strong that you could think the sky would fall down.

On Sunday it was still raining. The wind and the rain tore your clothes and hurt your face. Instead of the calm narrow river there was a roaring yellow lion running away down the valley. Though it was nearly afternoon it was misty and you could hardly see because of the rain. After tea it rained harder than ever. The wind roared around the house and in the distance you could listen the roar of the river. That night the Browns didn’t sleep at all. They tried to save their animals and birds.

On Monday morning it was still raining. The home was sitting on the island. The hungry yellow river had swallowed their cows. It was going to swallow them all. Their dining room was full of animals and birds. Some of the pigs were by the fireplace. There were a lot of chickens on the sofa. The ship was tied to the door of the veranda. Everybody was afraid but tried to smile and cheer up each other. While there is life, there is hope.

The Browns hoped the water would go down soon but it didn’t. They must get onto the table and sat there seeing the water. Trying to calm the girl Ben said that they were having an adventure…

Suddenly the Browns heard a motorboat. Now they were saved. It was their friend Ted Jackson, who lived on high ground at the another side of the valley.
